History
The PIHC of Mbé was created by the first Norwegian missionaries in the fifties in Ngaouyanga, a locality situated at 5km from Mbé, national route n?1 going to Garoua. It used to be called: ‹‹Health rooms››. It was essentially used to distribute freely medication against intestinal worms and malaria (Chloroquine) to children from primary schools and bible schools (schools created by the missionaries). Those structures (Health and biblical) were managed by bridesmaids missionaries.
In 1952, the population did not accept theses activities so then the structures were implanted and transferred to Mbé.
1953 is the year of the beginning of the construction of the actual inpatients’ department building.
In 1954, the works of the construction are achieved and the building is operational. Almost everything can be done, health care, inpatients service, surgery, administration, lepers were also taken cared of (distribution of anti-leprosy drugs). But the population did not accept living with lepers (they are impure), then they found themselves placed in solitary confinement camp.
In 1956, the lepers went to Foubarka, the named given to their camp which means Gracious town. They were living in huts. M. Djouldé Lamba was the first staff team member affected to the lepers’ care taking. He devoted all his life till he retires.
In 1956, year of the building of the central bloc, the structure is growing. National nurses and aid nurses are recruited and work for now on with the Norwegian bridesmaids.
