The Intergraded health center of Woumbou is one of the oldest missionary Centers (SUDAN MISSION) in the East region and under the Garoua-Boula? Protestant hospital.
Located in the East province, Subdivision of Betaré-Oya, the integrated woumdou protestant heath center is located at 60km of Betaré-Oya; and 133km of the Health Regional Direction of Garoua-Boula?; and 200km from Bertoua; 407km from the Direction of OSEELC (Ngaoundere). The Centre shares his Health areas with the Ngoura Integrated Health Center which is located at 55km in the South. The Health area of Woumbou has 13 villages with a population of 8.232 inhabitants.
Created in 1957 by an American missionary Rev Ruben JACKSON, the Woumbou Health Center, , have been established after the departure of the Colonial Administrators and the exploiters of gold. The center was opened to share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In 1962 after the departure of Rev. RUBEN Jackson, the dispensary was lead by Mrs. ESTHER Miclesor until 1972, the date of the arrival of a first black nurse assistant; M. Iya SIMON who was one of the pioneer of the Health Centre, unfortunately, the centre will be close some times latter on, and will be reopened in 1974 by the OSEELC, lead by M. IYAGORO Gilbert.
Since his creation in 1972, the Woumbou centre was sheltered a buildings decrepit to inherit by missionaries house after the end on their stay. This Health Center will be endow with two new moderns buildings ,which two hospitalizations rooms and one office achieved in 2000 by the Primary Health Care Project (SSP) of the OSEELC. But the Principal building where is the dressing room; the center will remain untouchable, what had a bad view of the center.
In 2004, after the demand of the Chief Center, the European Union, has renovated the center which is today giving a happiness to patients, workers, and even though visitors. This building, long time ago was divided in three pieces, which was seeing like a fashion divided into 6 compartments with the moderns techniques. One well was made in 2002 by the Primary Health Care (SSP).
